By downloading, installing or using OwnSpace, you agree to these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the software.
1. About OwnSpace
OwnSpace is a Local-First knowledge management application.
Your data is stored locally on your own device. The application is designed to give users full control over their information without relying on centralized storage.
The software currently operates without:
- user accounts;
- user registration;
- subscriptions;
- payments;
- built-in cloud storage;
- AI services;
- server-side processing of user content.
2. Developer
For the purposes of these Terms:
Developer means the individual developer responsible for creating and maintaining OwnSpace.
OwnSpace is currently developed and distributed by an individual developer and not by a legal entity.
3. License
OwnSpace grants you a non-exclusive, revocable license to use the software for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
You may not:
- reverse engineer the software where prohibited by law;
- distribute modified versions while representing them as official OwnSpace releases;
- use the OwnSpace name or branding in a misleading way.
4. Your Data
All content created inside OwnSpace belongs entirely to you.
The Developer does not claim ownership of your notes, documents or files.
The Developer cannot access your local data.
5. Cloud Synchronization
OwnSpace does not provide cloud storage.
If you choose to synchronize your files using third-party cloud providers, you remain fully responsible for:
- selecting the provider;
- configuring synchronization;
- protecting your cloud account;
- resolving synchronization conflicts.
The Developer is not responsible for services provided by third parties.
6. Backups
You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your data.
Loss of files caused by device failure, accidental deletion, cloud synchronization issues or user actions is your responsibility.
7. Privacy
OwnSpace follows a Privacy-First approach.
The application does not intentionally collect your personal files or notes.

8. Software Updates
The Developer may release updates that improve functionality, security or stability.
Installation of updates is voluntary unless otherwise stated.
9. Disclaimer of Warranty
OwnSpace is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE".
The Developer makes no warranties regarding:
- uninterrupted operation;
- fitness for a particular purpose;
- compatibility with all devices;
- absence of bugs or errors.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for:
- data loss;
- business interruption;
- lost profits;
- indirect or consequential damages;
- corruption of local files;
- synchronization problems caused by third-party services.
11. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time.
The latest version will always be distributed with the application and published on the official website.
Continued use of OwnSpace after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
