AI Features

OwnSpace includes AI-powered features that run entirely in your browser, your data never leaves your device. An internet connection is only needed once to download a model; after that everything works offline.

Setup

  1. Open Settings → AI tab.
  2. Find the feature you want to enable.
  3. Toggle it on — the model downloads automatically.
  4. For smart search, notes are indexed automatically after the model loads.

Models are off by default — you choose which to activate.

Smart Search

Smart search goes beyond keyword matching. It understands the meaning behind your query and finds notes even if they use different words. For example, searching "project deadlines" can find notes about "due dates" or "task timelines".

Results from smart search appear alongside regular results with a "Smart search" badge, so you can tell them apart.

Requires: PRO plan + smart search model enabled.

Smart Backlinks

When saving a new note, a window appears, the "Possibly Related" section shows notes that are topically connected.

With AI enabled, the system picks related notes semantically — it compares the meaning of the current note against all indexed notes and shows the best matches with a "Smart" badge.

Without AI, related notes are found by simple word overlap. With AI enabled, you get smarter, more relevant suggestions.

Speech Recognition

Convert spoken words into text directly in your notes:

  1. Open a note and click the microphone icon in the editor toolbar.
  2. Choose a language (Russian or English — matches your app locale by default).
  3. Click the big round button to start recording — speak naturally.
  4. Click again to stop — the audio is transcribed automatically and inserted into your note.

The system detects silence and very short recordings to avoid wasting time on accidental taps.

Requires: PRO plan + speech recognition model enabled.

Privacy

  • All AI inference happens on your device — no audio, text, or notes are sent to a server.
  • After the first download, models are cached and work fully offline.
